Jihye Sohn

Jihye Sohn is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in both graphic and fashion design. She recently graduated from the BA Graphic and Media Design program at UAL: London College of Communication. Drawing on experiences across these two distinct yet complementary fields, she brings a unique and integrated perspective to her creative practice.
Her work spans editorial design, illustration, and branding, with a particular interest in observing and archiving everyday moments. These subtle, often overlooked details serve as an emotional and conceptual foundation for her work, which frequently explores themes such as identity, social narratives, and invisible boundaries in contemporary life.
Rather than treating design as a mere visual output, Jihye approaches it as a medium for inquiry and reflection—a way to question, respond to, and reframe the world around her. Through a research-driven process that often incorporates texts, interviews, and collected visual materials, she weaves together personal experiences and broader societal contexts.
She is currently focused on expanding her practice through collaboration and socially engaged design, with a growing interest in topics such as gender, regional identity, and digital accessibility.

손지혜는 그래픽 디자인과 패션 디자인 두 가지를 전공한 아티스트로, 런던예술대학교(London College of Communication, UAL)에서 그래픽 & 미디어 디자인 학사 과정을 졸업하였습니다. 서로 다른 두 분야의 경계를 넘나드는 경험을 바탕으로, 독창적인 시각과 융합적인 접근 방식을 작업에 녹여내고 있습니다.
에디토리얼 디자인, 일러스트레이션, 브랜딩 등 다양한 프로젝트를 진행해왔으며, 특히 ‘일상적인 순간을 관찰하고 기록하는 일’에 깊은 애정을 가지고 있습니다. 그녀의 작업은 종종 인간의 정체성, 사회적 서사, 그리고 보이지 않는 경계를 시각적으로 탐구하며, 감각적인 이미지 속에 질문을 녹여냅니다.
그녀는 디자인을 단순한 결과물이 아닌, 사회와의 접점을 만드는 매개로 바라보며, 관찰과 탐구를 통해 익숙한 삶의 틈 사이에서 의미를 길어 올립니다. 텍스트, 인터뷰, 기록 이미지 등을 수집하는 리서치 기반의 접근은 개인적 경험과 사회적 맥락을 엮어내는 데 중요한 역할을 하며, 보는 이로 하여금 자신만의 질문을 던지게 만듭니다.
최근에는 타인과의 협업과 사회적 맥락을 반영한 디자인 실천에 관심을 두고 있으며, 젠더, 지역성, 정보 접근성 등의 주제를 시각적으로 풀어내는 방식으로 작업을 확장해나가고 있습니다.
